In the 100s, it has been ridiculously hot.  The air conditioning isn't keeping up, so we're having it tuned up today.  The pets are miserable during the day.  I walk them at 6am so they don't get too hot and can enjoy their walk.  Well, I enjoy it too.  There is smoke in the air from all the fires in the mountains, so it's hazy and hot.  Bleh!!!  Getting some projects finished up for my sister and need to do a painting for my mom.  Gotta get to it!!

Heading to the beach soon!!!  Can't wait!!!!!

97 Degrees at 2 pm....Ugh

Now I am really missing our above ground pool.  I feel lost without it.  Our local pool is always over crowded, which is no fun.  Doing what I can to keep flowers happy.  Hydrangea bushes are in the front and tend to wilt when it's this hot.  They're really not meant for Colorado heat.

I went to painting class today and I really enjoyed it.  The subject was painting white flowers.  I had something else planned to paint today, which I did, because I am sooooo intimidated by painting white flowers!

I may try doing a white flower after making the background another color, but that's not true botanical painting.  Well, it's a start.

This is Ms. K. on the left and Mr. D. on the right.  A huge size difference!  We did our early morning walk to avoid the heat, as Mr. D. easily dehydrates.  Ms. K ran the whole time, she loves to get out.  They are both put out by the heat and usually sleep the day away until it cools off.  Ah, the life of a dog.

It's Friday!!!!!!

I am just amazed by the fold in this petunia.  So, yes, it's on my painting to do list.  This is one of the pots on my back porch.  Need to water daily in this climate.  I have a very sore lower back related to the bursitis I'm being treated for.  Posture, posture, posture....everywhere.  In the car, on the couch, in a chair!  Need to fly in about 10 days.  Posture on the plane!!  Gotta run and do errands.  Posture while shopping!!  Happy Friday!!

Happy 4th!

It was a lovely day, but hot!!  Did a morning walk with the dogs, then took Ms. M to a friend's house in the mountains.  I wasn't able to make time for any crafting, but I will today.  I made a yummy potato salad, got the grill going and chilled champagne for our 20th wedding anniversary.  Our July 4th wedding was so much fun!

I'm working on a pair of yoga socks for one sister, and a mandela for my other sister.  I'm a bit behind, but I'll get them done soon!

Have a great day!!

Monday, Monday, Can't Help That Day...

I have really enjoyed painting birds lately.  I miss the beautiful birds of the northeast.  Here in Colorado they are few and far between in variety.  The next bird painting I will work on is this:
I found this on Instagram.  Credit to:  jeffreypkarnes_birds, St. Augustine, FL.  I love the challenge of the points and details, and I love the bird's colors!!  I've drawn onto paper, need to get painting.

Poor Mr. M. has been working for almost 6 weeks and hasn't gotten a paycheck yet.  His work is funded through a non-profit and somehow things have gotten screwed up.  He said he likes his job and that he can be patient.  Oh, but it must be disappointing.  He's such a good sport.

It has been twenty years of marriage to Mr. L on the 4th.  Time has flown.  I am missing the things we have done with the kids that they are no longer interested in doing.  Swimming at pools together, park visits, science museum trips.  Those experiences now include ComicCon weekends, going out to dinner, and a family trip each summer.  I love these new experiences, I just miss the old times, too.

Have a lovely Monday!!

Coffee and crochet after taking the dogs for a long walk.  It was only 50 degrees this morning!  Perfect walking weather.  Especially for Dallas who dehydrates quite easily.  I am so psyched that I found my metal H crochet needle (left) this morning....while cleaning..Ha!  Well, the grey one is metal, too, but it's hook is awkward and shallow.  I got used to it, but will definitely switch back.  I'm making a pullover by Kristin Omdahl.  It's a great mindless pattern and I'm working with bamboo silk that I found at Tuesday Mornings last week.  Only $3 a skein!!  I went back for more, but it was gone, so I ordered more online.  This is my favorite color!!
