Good to Be Back!!!

I haven't blogged in a while.  Why?  Busy and wondering if blogging is right for me.  I asked myself how much I want anyone to know about me.  But after being very ill, I decided that it is just the thing I want to do.

I've been in and out of the hospital over the past 2 months.  It started with an infection in my knee.  No, I didn't have a previous knee replacement, a questions I was asked by every doctor.  Somehow I had MRSA, a resistant bacteria, in my knee.

Now I do have CVID which is an immune deficiency syndrome, but that used to cause bronchitis and sinus infections.  I do weekly infusions to keep that at bay.

It's a long story why I was in and out of the hospital 4 times.  The shortest stay was 5 days, which was my last visit there.  I think I'll break it up into different posts.

One of the most challenging pieces of that eight week journey was how it affected my kids.  Mr. 19, Mr. 18, and Miss 14.  Mr. 19 and Mr. 18 are on the autism spectrum, so change at any rate can be a big challenge.  And Miss 14 has anxiety.

They all did their very best to get through each hospital stay and tolerated me going back 3 more times after they thought I would be fine.  They mostly kept to their schedules, but a lot was lacking.  Mr. L. was around for the first 7 days or so, driving everyone to school, college, and program.  But he had to get back to work.  I fretted leaving them to fend for themselves for the 14 hours that he is working.

When I got admitted a second time, my sister Ms. L came out to help the kids.  She drove them all the places they needed to go, cleaned the house, did laundry and so much else.  She was a presence that no one else could have replicated.  The kids had a known person in the house and checking in on them.  That was huge.

Now that I am back to blogging I will share my crochet, knitting and painting projects with you as well as many other tidbits around being a mom of kids on the autism spectrum, work/employment issues, stigma of being a stay at home mom, even when the kids are older, and so much else.  Below is a recent crochet project and a water color birdie.  Please stay tuned!!
